Reflexology Therapy

Reflexology

Reflexology is a natural healing therapy originating in Egypt and China around 2000 BC. Its application involves pressure to areas on the feet or the hands.

The theory behind reflexology is that certain areas of the foot and hands correspond to organs and systems of the body. The pressure applied during a reflexology treatment brings relaxation and healing to the corresponding area of the body.

Several studies show that reflexology can reduce pain and psychological symptoms, including stress and anxiety, while enhancing relaxation and sleep.

Reflexology clients report improvements in circulation, arthritis pain, plantar fasciitis, stiffness, swelling and increased flexibility along with relief from muscle and joint pain, anxiety and depression, menopausal issues, insomnia, stress, and many other conditions. It also alleviates common everyday difficulties caused by repetitive motion, such as carpal tunnel. There are many additional benefits, including stress relief and a deep sense of relaxation. Each treatment is tailored to meet the individual needs of the client.

Please note that my services are covered under most insurance plans.

I offer five types of reflexology treatment sessions:

Hand Reflexology

Hand Reflexology is a holistic therapy that works on the principle that "the hands mirror the body". The practitioner applies pressure to all parts of the hands, thus stimulating the nerve endings.

During this treatment, you will lie comfortably in an anti-gravity chair and be covered with a soft, warm blanket. I start off with some relaxation techniques to get the muscles warmed up and then do a full reflexology routine.

As a bonus, you will get a gentle hand massage with a locally made organic coconut oil by Athame. They are infused with specially blended essential oils that leave you feeling refreshed, and your hands moisturized and soft.

Duration of a Hand Reflexology session is 1 hour.

Foot Reflexology

Foot Reflexology is a holistic therapy that works on the principle that “the feet mirror the body”. The practitioner applies pressure to all parts of the feet, stimulating the over 7,000 nerve endings on the feet.

This Reflexology session starts with a warm foot soak and ends with a soothing foot massage with oils by locally owned Athame. These oils are custom made for my practice and are infused with essential oils that promote pain relief, relaxation, and hormone imbalances. They also leave you feeling refreshed, and your feet moisturized and soft.

Foot Reflexology is a fantastic way to reduce the effects of stress and promote relaxation. It stimulates all the vital organs and encourages the natural healing processes of the body. Treatment plans are individualized so that each client gets exactly the right session for them.

Duration of a Foot Reflexology session is 1 hour.

Reflexology

Lymph Drainage

Reflexology Lymph Drainage is a one-hour Reflexology treatment that focuses on the lymphatic reflexes on the feet and hands. A Reflexology Lymph Drainage treatment stimulates the flow of the fluid (Lymph) through the Lymphatic System to promote a reduction of swelling.

The lymphatic system is part of the circulatory system in the body and serves the very important function of detoxification and fighting infection. It also helps remove excess fluid from tissues and helps absorb fat from around the intestine.

The aim of Reflexology Lymph Drainage is to cause an effect on the lymphatic system in the body. It is a unique sequence that has been researched and developed by Sally Kay whilst working in cancer care.

Reflexology Lymph Drainage can be used on a variety of health issues caused by swelling, such as secondary lymphedema of the arm related to breast cancer, arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, PMS, migraines, asthma, leg, and foot swelling, among others. For more information and research documentation, please visit RLD website

Reflexology Lymph Drainage can be performed on either the hands or feet depending on where the swelling is on the body. A massage of either the feet or hands with locally made creams by Athame is done at the end of the session.

Oils used in the treatment are custom made for my practice and are infused with essential oils that promote pain relief, relaxation, and relief from swelling and hormone imbalances. They also leave you feeling refreshed, and your feet moisturized and soft.

Duration of a standard Reflexology Lymph Drainage session is 1 hour. You can also make this into a Spa Treatment by requesting a calf/foot or hand/lower arm scrub and hot towels.
